The Transportation Authority of Marin Board of Directors approved amendments to the Measure AA Expenditure Plan last month following a comprehensive review process and extensive input from the community and our partner agencies.

Measure AA is Marin County’s ½-Cent Transportation Sales Tax, approved in 2018, as a renewal of the initial Measure A, approved in 2004. Measure AA requires that the Expenditure Plan be reviewed every six years to ensure funding reflects current transportation needs, community priorities, and emerging challenges.

The approved amendments make targeted updates, while keeping about 95% of funding unchanged. Key highlights include:

  • Increased funding for the Crossing Guard Program to maintain critical school safety services.
  • New Reimagined Roadways Program to fund large, multi-jurisdictional projects focused on safety, congestion relief, and climate resilience.
  • Updates to program eligibility and administration to improve flexibility and efficiency.

The amendments now move forward for consideration by the Marin County Board of Supervisors and all 11 cities and towns.
