Bay Area public transit saw a torrent of Taylor Swift fans over the weekend as the singer played two sold out shows at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
The Valley Transportation Authority was at ground zero of the phenomena and broke ridership records.
On Friday, Swifties who turned out for the concert help break the ridership record. The previous record was 15,000 for ridership for the 2015 NHL Winter Classic that saw the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings do battle at the stadium, according to VTA. The number of VTA riders for Swift also more than doubled the ridership to Super Bowl 50, held at the stadium in 2015.
The Capitol Corridor also saw a bump in passengers and used social media to comment on Swift's fans.
The Swift effect on local transit was also noted in the local media on KTVU and in the San Francisco Standard.
