San Francisco ranks as the sixth best large city for working parents, according to a new report from CoworkingCafe.
The report measures U.S. cities with at least 200,000 residents across metrics related to the availability and access to work opportunities, childcare, education, health and environment.
According to the report, the ways San Francisco stand out include:
- High Workplace Flexibility: San Francisco records the second highest density of coworking spaces (1.6 per square mile), the sixth highest share of remote workers (27.5%) and the seventh highest share of office jobs (79%).
- Convenient Schools: Since San Francisco has the 10th highest density of public schools in the U.S. (2.8 per square mile), parents are well-positioned to choose schools that both minimize time lost in traffic and ensure their children get a quality education.
- Clean Air: Whether it’s sports, a leisure walk or a family outing, San Francisco parents can stay away from the negative health effects of pollution in one of the top 25 cities with the freshest air in the U.S. (49 air quality index);
- California's Best Place for Working Parents: San Francisco stands out as California's highest-ranking city for working parents, outperforming other major cities, like Irvine (#11), Oakland (#23), San Diego (#33) and Los Angeles (#54).
