A new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page addressing the financial challenges transit agencies face has been developed as part of the MTC-led "All Aboard Bay Area Transit" effort that began in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new FAQ looks at the "fiscal cliff" that many of the agencies now face, as well as how service might be impacted by shortfalls. Bay Area transit agencies need an additional $2.5-$2.9 billion over the next five years to ensure local transit service can survive and thrive.

The acute need begins in the fiscal year starting July 1, 2024, when Bay Area agencies face a shortfall of more than $400 million, but transit providers need to know by July 2023 if they will have sufficient funding the next year to maintain current service levels and fund other critical needs.

AllAboardBayArea.com is a source for more information, including details about all participating transit agencies. The ‘All Aboard Bay Area Transit’ campaign was initiated by the Blue Ribbon Transit Recovery Task Force organized by MTC in May 2020 to help guide the future of the Bay Area’s public transit network.
