Beginning in January 2026, the Regional Network Management Customer Advisory Group (RNM CAG) will see a new structure enabling a stronger connection and understanding between regional and local transit agencies’ advisory bodies.

That includes bringing more local expertise to the RNM Customer Advisory Group and bringing regional perspective to local advisory bodies.

The Regional Network Management program aims to advance regional goals in equity, livability, climate and resiliency through a unified regional transit system that serves all Bay Area populations. RNM initiatives include projects that will make Bay Area transit more affordable, seamless, efficient and accessible for riders. Priority projects include efforts to improve transit fare policies, mapping and wayfinding, transit priority, and accessibility.

The purpose of RNM’s Community Advisory Group is to provide diverse customer perspectives to the RNM Committee to help shape regional transit policy and projects. The RNM CAG initially was established in the fall of 2023 and was developed out of two previous Policy Advisory Council subcommittees. The restructuring of the CAG is happening at the same time as changes resulting in the new MTC ABAG Community Advisory Committee.

The newly constituted 20-member CAG will include:

  • 6 members from transit agencies’ advisory bodies
  • 5 members from MTC-ABAG Community Advisory Council
  • 3 members from policy organizations
  • 1 student/youth member
  • 1 transit rider group member
  • 1 business member
  • 1 member from city transportation or public works
  • 1 disability community member
  • 1 at-large member

The CAG member update aims to foster greater collaboration and cross fertilization in which local advisory board members will bring their local expertise to the CAG and take back a regional perspective to their local advisory bodies.

Next steps include the selection process through the end of the year, which includes recruitment for general Customer Advisory Group members and nominations for transit agency public advisory board members.

Interested students are invited to apply to the student/youth seat. Applicants must be 18-25 years old and be an enrolled student. The position requires in-person attendance at meetings at the Bay Area Metro Center in San Francisco. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. To apply, fill out the application form.
