Jay Stagi, a Senior Planner who joined the MTC staff in 2007, died unexpectedly March 17.
Through his work on initiatives such as the Transit Connectivity Plan, the Regional Hub Signage Program, Bike-to-Work Day, and the Ferry Building flap sign, Jay thrived on collaboration building partnerships — and friendships — with transit agency and city staff, transit advocates, industry experts, and other stakeholders throughout the Bay Area.
Jay’s legacy will live on in the Regional Mapping and Wayfinding project, an initiative to which Jay was so dedicated that he stayed several years past retirement to shepherd it toward completion.
Jay was especially proud of the Ferry Building's distinctive flap sign, which offers daily ferry passengers departure times for routes across the Bay Area. As project manager for MTC’s Hub Signage Program, Jay oversaw its installation in 2013.
Through Saturday, April 8 the sign will carry a remembrance of Jay to honor his work to better connect our diverse and extensive region.
