Good news BART passengers: more space coming

By Mark Prado

BART has secured $300 million from the Federal Transit Administration toward expanding the number of trains in its system.

What that means is 300-plus new rail cars, less crowded trains and more space for riders.

The San Francisco Chronicle had a good breakdown on what it will mean for passengers.

It's not a completely done deal. More funding is needed for the project, but that could come as soon as December.

Regional Measure 3, approved by Bay Area voters in 2018, is providing $500 million toward the project.
