The Golden Gate Bridge's sidewalks will be shut down this weekend for a period to accommodate the Golden Gate Half Marathon.
The span's sidewalks are usually full of bicyclists and sightseers on weekends. But on Sunday, Nov. 3, the Golden Gate Bridge east and west sidewalks will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate up to 5,000 runners participating in the Golden Gate Half Marathon.
During the temporary closure of the sidewalks, a free shuttle will be available to bicyclists and pedestrians requiring access across the span, bridge officials said.
Shuttle will be located on both sides of the Bridge:
- SOUTH END: Shuttle stop is in the southeast Welcome Center parking lot.
- NORTH END: Shuttle stop is at the northbound Highway 101/Alexander Avenue off-ramp bus stop.
