The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has produced a history of contributions to transportation made by members of the Asian American Pacific Islander community.
The Association’s site features biographies, photos and the compelling stories of pioneers who played key roles in transportation in the United States.
Among those newly featured on the Association's website for 2023:
- Amitabha “Amit” Bose, named administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration in 2022.
- Mara Huling Langevin, the first Asian American female — as well as the first female of any minority — to become a U.S. Coast Guard aviator.
- Mary MeleNaite Tufui Likio McCray, the first female U.S. Navy officer of Tongan descent.
