An online panel discussion on how to speed bus travel co-sponsored by MTC and SPUR will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Register here to participate.
San Francisco has seen great success in prioritizing buses on local roads, delivering up to 31% travel time savings up to 60% ridership growth. But in many places, where transit agencies have little say about roadway design, it has been slow or impossible to deliver transit-priority projects such as dedicated bus lanes and transit signal priority.
In 2021, the Bay Area Transit Transformation Action Plan outlined bold action on increasing priority for public transit in our roadways, which has inspired a new focus on the institutional reforms, funding, and leadership needed to deliver faster and more reliable buses.
SPUR will release a policy report detailing specific recommendations to get these projects moving. Learn about both SPUR’s recommendations and forthcoming state and regional efforts to get buses out of traffic. Panelists include:
- Alix Bockelman / Metropolitan Transportation Commission
- Jeanie Ward-Waller / Caltrans
- Jonathon Kass / SPUR
- Dina El-Tawansy / Caltrans District 4
