A new study out this week indicates not everyone uses Lyft and Uber.

While the services are ubiquitous in the Bay Area, with drivers coming from outside the region to provide rides, that's not the case in other parts of the country.

About one in three Americans use rideshare services, according to the Pew Research Center.

Not everyone lives in an urban area and it's in rural America where the services aren't as popular.

"Ride-hailing companies have made efforts to expand their services to rural and remote areas. But lower population density, long travel distance and relatively low incentives for drivers are often cited as potential hurdles," the report notes.
