Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit has started evening Starlighter service, dubbing it "your date night train."
SMART’s Starlighter train operates Friday and Saturday nights and is aimed and those seeking leisure trips for dining, entertainment, and evening events.
Among the destinations touted by the service:
San Rafael. Take SMART to Downtown San Rafael to dine and catch a live musical performance. Once a month between May and October, the Dining Under the Lights event transforms the downtown into a summer block party complete with an Art Walk.
Petaluma. Take SMART to Downtown Petaluma to visit historic Downtown, dine, listen to live music, and enjoy an evening stroll along the scenic riverfront. Browse the boutiques and antique shops, and visit one of the many wine bars and craft beer taprooms.
Santa Rosa. Take SMART to Downtown Santa Rosa which is in the heart of historic Railroad Square. Browse the boutiques and antique shops, and choose from dozens of nearby restaurants, entertainment, wine bars, and craft beer taprooms.
Free parking is available at these SMART stations: Sonoma County Airport, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma Downtown, Novato San Marin, Novato Downtown, Novato Hamilton and Larkspur.
