San Francisco Bay Trail featured, pre-COVID

The San Francisco Bay Trail is the focus of an OpenRoad episode hosted by Doug McConnell on NBC Bay Area. It's important to note it was shot before COVID-19 arrived.

The program highlights the Bay Trail and what awaits Bay Area residents once the pandemic is over.

The Bay Trail plan was adopted by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) in June 1989. Envisioned as a 500-mile “ring around the Bay,” today some 355 miles of trail are built along the perimeter of San Francisco Bay.

Several major new segments have opened recently or are under construction, including a bicycle-pedestrian path now open along the upper deck of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and the Albany Beach Bay Trail behind Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley/Albany scheduled to open later this year.

Stay tuned to the Bay Trail website for announcements and future events.
