Known for its prosperous job market, living in the Bay Area is also ideal for working parents, helping them balance their careers with childcare responsibilities and a great quality of life, according to a new CoworkingCafe study

Choosing the right city can make all the difference for working parents. The recent study ranks the top 20 U.S. cities that offer the best combination of career prospects, childcare availability, and quality of life.

Three Bay Area cities stood out among the best for working parents:

San Francisco was rated third among Western U.S. cities, securing fifth place in the nation for a family and work-friendly environment. The city stood out with 303 pediatricians for every 100,000 children, which was the fourth-highest availability nationally. Additionally, San Francisco had the fifth-largest percentage of remote workers, at around 23% of the total workforce, as well as the second-most co-working spaces available for remote and hybrid workers at 1.49 per square mile.

Fremont ranked ninth and checked the highest share of remote workers nationwide at just above 28% of its total workforce. Here, the vast majority (79%) of jobs are office-based, which helped the city score sixth place in the work category.  Parents in this area allocated only 13% of their median household income to childcare to rank fifth in the category.

Oakland ranked 20th and has 20.3% of its workforce working remotely with 177.5 pediatricians for every 100,000 children and 11.2 acres of greenspace for every 1,000 people.
