Despite lower lending rates, the housing market continues to soften and some are blaming the lack of affordable housing, according to reports.

Rising home prices have put a damper on the market even though there is increased inventory. Part of the issue: Not enough affordable homes for sale, and that growing problem is hurting the market overall.

The sentiment among homebuilders has hit the lowest level since 2015. The dipping mortgage rates could stimulate the market in early 2019.

An MTC-led effort looking at the future of affordable housing in the Bay Area is being worked on.
