A majority of U.S. citizens say masks on airplanes and public transportation should be required, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.

The Bay Area now sees a mix of rules around mask wearing.

In all, 57% of adults say masks should be worn on public transit, while 42% say they are not needed, according to the Pew survey.

In April, a federal judge in Florida struck down the U.S. government’s mask mandate for planes and public transportation. The Department of Justice is in the process of appealing the decision.
