Participate: Clipper START survey

MTC is conducting a Clipper START survey to gauge awareness of the means-based transit fare pilot program that provides discounted fares on 21 Bay Area transit systems.

The survey is available in English, Spanish, Chinese and Tagalog and is open until Oct. 14.

The pilot program, which runs through July 2023, provides fare discounts to adults with lower incomes. Bay Area residents ages 19-64 with a household income of up to 200% of the federal poverty level are eligible to apply. For a family of four, this means an annual household income of no more than $53,000.

Once accepted to the program, Clipper START works just like a regular Clipper card – simply tag and go on buses, trains and ferries around the Bay Area. Discounts are automatically applied on single rides on participating transit systems.

More information on Clipper START can be found hereThe program is administered by MTC in partnership with Bay Area transit agencies.
