Every year, each of the nine Bay Area counties selects their own Bike Champion of the Year as part of the Bike to Wherever Days event in May. Now is the time to make nominations.

Each year, public submissions help identify who is making their counties better places through bicycling. Winners will receive prizes and Bay Area-wide recognition.

These champions are recognized for their dedication to promoting bicycling as a primary mode of transportation and for their ability to inspire others in their local communities. Last year's winners are here.

People can also pledge to ride for Bike To Wherever Days, which is the entire month of May, with a focus on Thursday, May 16, the day designated as the 30th Anniversary of Bay Area Bike to Work Day.

Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days began 30 years ago — then known as Bike To Work Day — as a celebration of bicycles as a fun and healthy way to get to work, as well as an opportunity for those who don’t usually use a bike to commute to try it out. It’s also a time to advocate for improved bicycle infrastructure and safety across the region.
