MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) will host "Accessible Futures: Sharing. Listening. Learning" — a disability-led community conversation on housing, transportation, the environment and more.
The regional gathering of the Bay Area disability community will identify the unmet needs and gaps in policies, services and advocacy for persons with disabilities on topics of priority. The conference will be held June 16-17 at the Bay Area Metro Center, 375 Beale St. in San Francisco.
Registration for the conference is now open. Registration is required and there is no cost to participate. Breakfast and lunch will be provided during the event and drinks and hors d'œuvres will be available during the evening reception on June 16. An option to participate remotely is available, but participants are encouraged to join in person to build community and cultivate partnerships.
Participate in a survey to make the conference a success by helping to inform the topics of discussion at the event. Attendance at the conference is not required to participate in the survey. Survey participants will be entered to win one of four (4) $250 gift cards.
The primary objectives of the conference are to:
- Convene the community in a centralized regional forum to lay the foundation for building a robust network of individuals, advocates and organizations;
- Develop a conference proceedings report for the purpose of advancing community goals and action items; and
- Identify new opportunities for future collaboration among event participants.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to:
- Engage with community leaders and advocates across the nine Bay Area counties in a welcoming and fully accessible environment.
- Share lived experiences and priorities with policymakers and invited elected officials.
- Develop partnerships and identify opportunities for future collaboration.
