Commissioners David Canepa and Carol Dutra-Vernaci, ABAG President Belia Ramos and Vice-President Jesse Arreguin, along with MTC-ABAG Executive Director Andrew Fremier traveled to Washington D.C. earlier this month to advocate for Bay Area transportation and housing priorities.
Meetings were held with members and staff of the Bay Area Congressional delegation, officials with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and U.S. House and Senate committees with jurisdiction over transportation and housing.
The MTC-ABAG delegation advocated for grant awards for Bay Area regional priority transportation projects, consistent with MTC’s Bay Area Infrastructure Grants policy, and provided updates on our other transportation and housing priorities.
California Sen. Alex Padilla, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen and Federal Highway Administration Administrator Shailen Bhatt addressed the
MTC-ABAG delegation along with several other members of Congress, U.S. Department of Transportation officials, congressional staff and partners at the annual California Transportation Reception.
The MTC-ABAG delegation hosts the reception each year with the Southern California Association of Governments and other partner agencies.
