MTC and a dozen other organizations have co-authored a set of principles for implementing open data exchange throughout the transit industry.

Designed to help meet riders’ information needs by improving the quality and accessibility of mobility data, preserving privacy rights, and encouraging transit tech companies to innovate with confidence, the principles emphasize:

·     Interoperability

·     Security

·     Portability

·     Equitable and real-time access

·     Flexibility and customization.

The California Integrated Travel Project (Cal-ITP), the California Association of Coordinated Transportation (CalACT) and other collaborators have established a website highlighting the plan to achieve these goals.
