Link21 — the program aimed at allowing people to more easily travel around the Megaregion by train by connecting urban and intercity rail throughout Northern California — will be the subject of a public outreach event June 27.
A virtual community meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 27 for a presentation and Q&A session with the Link21 team. An online open house is also available through July 31.
At the core of Link21 is a new train crossing between Oakland and San Francisco, unlocking better travel possibilities across the 21-county Northern California Megaregion. A new transbay rail crossing between Oakland and San Francisco was included in two major regional funding measures: BART Measure RR (70.5% approval in 2016) and Regional Measure 3 (55% approval in 2018).
Both measures presented voters with information on the new transbay rail crossing and helped fund Link21. A new transbay passenger rail crossing is also included in the 2018 State Rail Plan.
Input now will help Link21 staff better understand the service improvements that will best meet the needs of the diverse community, officials said.
