Lost in the hoopla of this week's announcement of a new ballpark plan for the Oakland A's were references to affordable housing as part of the project.

Planners at MTC and ABAG are working on plans for affordable units and the A's leadership sees it as part of their project as well.

"The outer rim of the Coliseum site would feature clusters of development — a mix that could include a tech hub, affordable housing, youth sports complex, light manufacturing and shopping strip," reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

And in a September story, the East Bay Express addressed how the ballpark might bring affordable housing to Oakland.
