The Bay Trail San Francisco Airport (SFO) Gap Closure Study  is in its last phase of public engagement before the data is analyzed for the final report.

Members of the public are invited to share comments about the trail design elements and support facilities that are most important for the Bay Trail SFO gap. The multilingual survey is open through Nov. 30:

The Bay Trail SFO Gap Closure Study will help realize the vision for the San Francisco Bay Trail as a continuous, 500-mile trail around San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. The Bay Trail ultimately will serve 47 cities in all nine Bay Area counties.

The overarching goals of the Bay Trail include:

  • Foster active transportation
  • Promote healthy communities
  • Facilitate environmental stewardship and education
  • Increase equitable public shoreline access for all Bay Area residents and visitors

The Bay Trail SFO Gap Closure study is funded by a $160,000 donation from the John and Gwen Smart Foundation. Additional funding has been added to assist with environmental and right-of-way analysis.
