The Transportation Authority of Marin and Sonoma County Transportation Authority are joining forces to introduce a bikeshare program to the North Bay funded through an $826,000 grant from MTC's Bikeshare Capital Program.

Set to launch in summer 2024, the agencies are now reaching out for help in selecting a name for the program.

Take the bikeshare survey here.

The proposed Bike Share Pilot Program will feature Class 1 e-bikes — which are pedaled to engage a motor — and around 75 parking hubs equipped with wayfinding and advertising signage across Sonoma and Marin counties. The initial network will incorporate modular bicycle racks that securely lock the shared bicycles.

There are expected to be 150 bikes in Marin County and 150 bikes in Sonoma County at or around SMART stations in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael and Larkspur. The goal is to help complete the “last mile” between Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit stations and work and shopping locations.

The vision of the program is to provide a new, innovative and environmentally friendly solution for people to get to and from SMART stations and around communities.
