Kansas City is seriously looking at free bus transit as a way to provide equity, improve the environment and smooth traffic.

The city already has free streetcars, paid for by an assessment district.

The Kansas City Star has opined buses should be free as well.

If the plan comes to fruition, Kansas City would be the first large American City to provide free transit.
