An analysis of Healdsburg in Sonoma County says it needs more affordable housing and warns that residents may find themselves priced out of the area.

Only 11.5 percent of the city's residents have the income that would allow them to buy a median-priced home of $977,000, according to a report by the American Institute of Architects.

Added dwelling units, lot subdividing and requirements of developers to build affordable housing would help address the issue.

Healdsburg's issue underscore the work of MTC's CASA project, aimed at developing a Bay Area plan that preserves existing affordable housing while protecting vulnerable populations from housing instability and displacement.
