July 1 is the day when new fares and tolls are often rolled out, and Monday was no exception.
A host of transit agencies boosted prices to ride buses and ferries, and in one case, to cross a Bay Area bridge.
MUNI, Golden Gate Transit and AC Transit are among the operators that raised transit fares Monday.
The Golden Gate Bridge also hiked tolls. Because it uses only electronic toll collecting devices, it can raise prices by less than a dollar and not have to worry about traffic backing up. There are no cash operations and no change to make at the span's toll booths.
