The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) is hosting summer webinars to support cities, counties, and partners in getting started or advancing sea level rise planning under SB272.

In 2023, California passed SB272, a law that requires all shoreline communities to create adaptation plans to tackle sea level rise by 2034. BCDC's Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (RSAP) sets the standards for these plans.

As part of the RSAP Outreach, BCDC is presenting directly to local governments across the Bay Area, offering a four-part webinar series, providing planning tools and resources, and holding staff office hours for one-on-one support.

Registration is now open for the webinar series.

Webinar 1: Introducing the RSAP. Wednesday, June 25, 1-2 p.m. Register here

The session will cover:

  • Why shoreline adaptation is urgent and necessary.
  • What SB 272 requires and what’s expected of local governments.
  • How the RSAP helps cities and counties balance local priorities with regional consistency.
  • How BCDC can support  jurisdictions.
  • Live Q&A with BCDC’s Planning team.

Future webinars in the series include:

Webinar 2: Creating Subregional Plans: A Local Government Primer (July 23) Register here

Webinar 3: The RSAP Atlas: Data and Mapping Tool for Planning (August 13) Register here

Webinar 4: Getting Started: Engage, Fund, and Initiate Plans (September 17) Register here
