Bay Area Housing Finance Authority Director, Kate Hartley, was featured this month on the podcast "Housing After Dark Episode 5: Is the Future of Housing Finance Regional?"
"I’ve spent the past 15 years studying regional government in the Bay Area," writes podcast host Alex Schafran on his site. "It’s very exciting to see housing getting more and more attention at the regional level and more support from local governments who realize that we can only do certain housing things (like housing finance) effectively when we do them together and at scale."
During the podcast, Hartley talks about the history and future of the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority.
The Bay Area Housing Finance Authority was created in 2019 to help solve the affordable housing shortage and has the potential to raise hundreds of millions of dollars annually through ballot measures and other revenue mechanisms for the nine-county Bay Area. BAHFA is now considering a bond measure for the November 2024 ballot to invest in building and preserving affordable homes over the next decade and beyond.
