The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) has named Rohnert Park Council Member Susan Adams as President and Solano County Supervisor Wanda Williams as Vice President of the regional planning agency and council of governments. Both will serve two-year terms that started July 1.
Adams will replace Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos as the leader of the ABAG Executive Board, while Williams assumes the Vice President's role, previously held by City of East Palo Alto Councilmember Carlos Romero.
The Sonoma County Mayors and Councilmembers Association appointed Adams to represent their interests on the ABAG Executive Board in June 2021. Adams was first appointed to ABAG in April 2019.
Adams was elected to the Rohnert Park City Council in November 2018. She began her service as mayor in December 2023. Adams served on the Rohnert Park Planning Commission for 14 years before being elected to the City Council.
Williams was elected to the Solano County Board of Supervisors in November 2022. Williams was appointed to the ABAG Executive Board in January 2023, coinciding with the start of her term on the Board of Supervisors. She is the first African American woman to be elected to the Solano County Board of Supervisors.
She has served as Chair Pro-Tem of the Board of Supervisors since 2023. Prior to being elected to the board, she was elected to the Suisun City Council in 2018. During her time on the Suisun City Council, she was appointed to the office of Vice Mayor.
