San Francisco's Sigmund Stern Grove Festival concert series has put a special emphasis on using public transportation to get to performances, a growing trend for Bay Area events.

Patrons heading to concerts are encouraged to use public transportation at the festival's website and specific instructions are provided on how to use MUNI and BART. Taxi and rideshare info is also provided, and it's noted the venue has a free bike valet at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard.

And the website gives out a shout to www.511.orgMTC operates 511 in partnership with the California Department of Transportation, the California Highway Patrol, dozens of public transit operators, and rideshare organizations around the Bay Area.

The Golden State Warriors are also encouraging public transportation to get to the team’s new venue along the San Francisco waterfront. That organization is even providing free MUNI fares.

In the South Bay, the San Francisco 49ers have also put an emphasis on public transportation to get to games.
