A bill that would establish a toll for part of Lombard Street in San Francisco has moved forward.

Rep. Phil Ting's Assembly Bill 1065 would establish a Lombard Street reservation and pricing system, and was approved by the Transportation Committee last week.

It is eligible to go to a floor vote on the assembly floor at the State Capitol in Sacramento as soon as this Thursday.

Known as the "crookedest street in the world," the section of Lombard between Leavenworth and Hyde sees about 2 million visitors annually. Having a reservation system would help manage the crush of cars, Ting says.
