Yesterday, the District Elections Official for the Public Transit Revenue Measure District (“District”) certified that proponents of the Connect Bay Area Transit Initiative authorized by Senate Bill 63 (Wiener/Arreguín, 2025) submitted sufficient valid signatures for the measure to qualify for placement on the ballot in each county with the District (Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara).

In the certification, the District Elections Official found that an estimated 241,964 total valid signatures were submitted (based on the random sample signature verification technique), exceeding the 110% threshold of 205,831 valid signatures required to qualify the measure for the ballot.

At its meeting currently scheduled for July 24, the District will consider additional actions necessary to facilitate placement of the measure on the November 3, 2026 statewide general election ballot. Members of the public are encouraged to attend this meeting, details of which will be posted to the meetings page of the MTC website prior to the meeting.
