Bay Area transit leaders from MTC, BART, Muni, Caltrain, VTA and Capitol Corridor came together Tuesday for a press conference at the Powell Street Station in San Francisco to urge FIFA World Cup fans to take advantage of their special service offerings, including late night service.

The agencies are coordinating efforts and scheduling to ensure a world-class transportation experience and to have service available for all fans regardless of when matches end.  Learn more about taking transit to FIFA World Cup 26™ matches and events.

"When we took a look at the schedule and we found out how late some of the games would go and given how important transit is to this event and the region, it was important for all of us to invest in additional transit service," said Andrew Fremier, Executive Director of MTC. "So, the folks that need the service and folks that want it, and even those who maybe didn't know it is available, now can ride transit to get to the games and back home safely."

Matches starting at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. will have special after-midnight service with connections back to San Francisco and the East Bay.

BART will run special limited-express service after midnight for matches that start at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. View BART’s FIFA service page for complete details about this special limited service.

Caltrain will operate late-night service for matches beginning at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., with additional northbound service toward San Francisco and southbound service toward San Jose following the match. View Caltrain’s FIFA service page.

Muni will operate a special bus shuttle service in San Francisco on evening FIFA World Cup 26™ SF Bay Area match days. Supplemental bus shuttles circulate between Union Square, SoMa, BART and Caltrain San Francisco. View Muni's FIFA service page.

Large-scale events like the World Cup highlight the importance of public transit to move large numbers of people quickly and efficiently during moments of peak demand. Unlike many rail systems around the country, BART will not be implementing surge pricing for FIFA. Riders will pay the regular fare.
